The South Pembrokeshire locality is a busy tourist destination and the population can almost double during the summer months. It hosts the Ironman competition every year along with other popular sporting events. The county is home to one of the UK's smallest National Parks, but it has one of the most diverse landscapes and it is the only UK National Park that is primarily designated for it's coastal landscape with no part of it being more than 10 miles from the sea.
South Pembrokeshire GP Cluster Network serves a population of approximately 54,000 people with 99.1% of this population living in an area classified as rural. The Cluster was formed seven years ago and was originally made up of six practices. Now there are five GP Practices in this group consisting of Narberth, Saundersfoot, Argyle Street, Tenby and Neyland & Johnston, with the last two being Health Board Managed practices. The cluster meets at regular intervals throughout the year and will consist of representatives from all five GP Practices, Local Authority, Public Health Wales, Health Board, WAST, Community Pharmacy, Community Optometrists, Community Dental and third sector.
The Cluster works together to deliver projects for the benefit of their whole population. So far this has included the OT project, the First Contact Physiotherapy Project, ICN Team and the Youth Worker Project are to name a few. Currently the cluster is working on delivering a new Spirometry Project.
