PATIENTS OF TENBY SURGERY PLEASE NOTE:
To help ensure that we can continue to provide essential services to our patients and to minimise the risk of spread of Coronavirus/Covid19, we are taking the following measures as from Monday, 16th March 2020.
Pre-bookable appointments with a GP, Nurse Practitioner or Paramedic Practitioner are being temporarily suspended and we will NOT be taking bookings for any appointments with any of our staff at the Reception desk under any circumstances. All appointments will be bookable on the day only and will be telephone triaged by our clinicians. This means that if you think you need to see or speak to a clinician, you should telephone the Surgery and you will be asked some questions to ascertain how we can best do this. Increasingly we will be prioritising our capacity for urgent and essential care and non-urgent services will be suspended if it is safe to do so. We do recommend our eConsult service, detailed above. This gives you the opportunity to send photographs if appropriate. Our Doctors now also have access to video consultations which they will use if they feel it is necessary.
INR and urgent blood tests will continue as normal for now but do not attend if you are unwell, phone first.
Please DO NOT queue outside the Surgery for an appointment, or attend the surgery if you are unwell unless you have been instructed to do so by our telephone triage. This potentially puts you and other patients at risk.

These measures are being taken to protect services for those who need them most. Inevitably the shift to telephone triage will increase the number of phone calls into the Surgery, so please do not phone before 1pm for non-urgent matters. Our team is working very hard to support patients during a very difficult period, but it may take longer than we would like to answer phone calls.
The Practice is here to support you through the current Pandemic that is affecting so many of us. The Government has written to many already medically vulnerable patients who may become unwell if they catch this virus. Please know we are here for you and your families. You will have seen on the news that many patients are discussing with their GPs their wishes for their care should they become seriously unwell. If you would like to have that discussion or if you think you have an underlying significant condition but have not been included on the Government's list, then please let us know be emailing Enquiries.firstname.lastname@example.org If you do not have access to email, please telephone the surgery and ask if you can speak with a Clinician regarding this.
Please be advised that as a temporary measure where possible and safe to do so, we will either:
- supply a batch prescription to your nominated pharmacy whereby you will not need to contact the Surgery for further prescriptions, you will collect them from the Pharmacy.
- you will receive 2/3 x post-dated prescriptions (forward dated for when they are due). You will only be able to use the second and third prescription when they are due and you need to keep them safe.
This will come into effect when you apply for your next prescription.
For Acute prescriptions (one-offs, or prescriptions that require additional monitoring), arrangements will remain as normal.
We would like to thank patients for their support and understanding. Please keep in mind the demand via phone may increase in the coming weeks. We ask for your continued patience and understanding. We would like to remind patients that our staff in Tenby Surgery are going above and beyond their regular duties to ensure our essential services are protected. We thank you for your cooperation.
FLU CLINICS will begin on 12th October 2020 and will be held daily Monday to Friday - all day. A few Saturday clinics will also be available for patients who are unable to attend during the week.
Patients over the age of 65 and patients under 65 who live with a chronic condition or who are pregnant only will initially be eligible to receive a flu vaccination.
This year, due to Covid 19, flu vaccinations will be given by appointment only. Appointments can be made by telephoning 01834 840868 with effect from the week beginning 21st September 2020. Please ring any weekday to book an appointment for your flu injection, after 10.30am, as the telephone lines will be quieter at this time.
Please help protect yourself and those around you by booking a free flu vaccination.
